The Foundation stone of the college was laid by the then Maharaja of Mysore, Sri.Jayachamaraja Wodeyar. He blessed the college and wished it all success. The land for the college was made available by the then Chief Minister of Mysore. Sri.K.Hanumanthiah. Rashtreeya Shishana Samithi is administering more than two dozen institutions like the Engineering College, Dental College, NMKRV College and SSMRV College and the Teachers College, to name a few. A child can get admitted to the R.V. Nursery School, and can pursue up to Master’s degree course or change over to the professional course, like Dental, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Engineering or Teaching in our institution.

Rashtreeya sikshana samithi Trust (RSST)
The Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust is a pioneer organization in the state to start the first private Teachers College in the erstwhile Mysore State. It was the vision of our founder Secretary of R.S.S.T. Late M.C. Shivananda Sharma a great patriot and freedom fighter. He felt the need for starting a College of Education to nurture the spirit of nationalism among the teachers. His sincere efforts took the shape of R.V. Teachers College in 1954. It is a grant in aid institution affiliated to Bangalore University and recognized by the NCTE. The college was identified by DEPSE, New Delhi as an agency to provide in-service education for teachers. We had the fortune of having the Dept of Extension Services in 1957. Since then, several in-service programmes like Orientation programme, Workshops, Discussion meets were organized for the professional development of school teachers throughout the state, Thousands of teachers got the academic benefit from the Department of Extension Services (D.ES).
Another important mile stone in the history of our college was starting of post Graduate Section in the year 1974. This was the first private college offering evening course in both B.Ed and M.Ed for the benefit of In-service Teachers. It was a boon to many aspiring working teachers who could pursue their higher education and improve their qualifications and academic competence.
Later in the year 1996 the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, New Delhi, upgraded some of the outstanding institutions in the country as Institutes of Advanced Studies in Education. Our college too was elevated to the status of IASE in 1996 because of the good academic service rendered by our college, we are indeed very happy to say that this is the only private aided college to get such a status in the entire state of Karnataka. After up gradation as IASE, our functions are teaching, research and extension.
R V Teachers College (IASE) offers, a Graduate course in Education (B. Ed.) The course is of two-year duration which comprises of four semesters. It is affiliated to Bengaluru City University, Bengaluru and approved by the NCTE, New Delhi. The B.Ed programme follows the rules and regulations along with the curriculum/ syllabi structured, prescribed and approved by the by the statutory council Bengaluru City University.
It also offers, a post Graduate course in Education (M. Ed.) from the Academic Year 2018-19. The course is of two-year duration which comprises of four semesters. It is affiliated to Bengaluru City University, Bengaluru and approved by the NCTE, New Delhi. The M.Ed programme also follows the rules and regulations along with the curriculum/ syllabi structured, prescribed and approved by the by the statutory council Bengaluru City University.
In addition, our institution is also designated as a research centre in education, offering Ph.D., in the subject Education. There are five recognised guides in our institution.
We are a team of research oriented, committed and highly qualified faculty of fifteen, one librarian and three non-teaching staff.
Our institution is known for its well-equipped library, with more than 25,000 titles, reference books / journals (print and on line) and periodicals/dissertations catering for both B.Ed., and M.Ed., levels.
We are proud that our students pass with cent percent first class results at both UG and PG levels and every year our M.Ed., students bag university ranks. There is also cent percent placement at the campus interview.
